Rowan Van Ness

Rowan Van Ness

Director of Lifespan Religious Education
Department:

Rowan is a lifelong Unitarian Universalist, originally from Washington State.  She began working at FUSN in the fall of 2014 as the Acting DLRE, and is thrilled to have joined the team for the long run as of 2015.  She is in the Religious Educator Credentialing Program, continuing her own learning while supporting people of all ages at FUSN in their spiritual growth.

Rowan is deeply committed to community and to putting her values into action, leading her to co-founding Unitarian Universalist Community Cooperatives and living in the Lucy Stone Cooperative for 5 years.  Prior to her work at FUSN, Rowan taught middle school math and science; worked in Youth and Young Adult leadership capacities for the UU College of Social Justice and the First Parish in Cambridge; and ran environmental justice programs and advocacy in both UU and secular capacities.  When Rowan is not at FUSN, she spends her time making pottery, singing, gardening, hiking, working for social justice, and nurturing her own spirit in Jewish community.
