Annual Budget Drive
The Annual Budget Drive Committee organizes the Annual Budget Drive, usually beginning by setting up the volunteer structure, firming up the time-line, theme, and recruiting visiting stewards.
The Budget Drive program is launched early in the calendar year culminating in the Budget Drive itself in the early spring.
The church budget for the following fiscal year, June 1 to May 31, is based to a large extent on the total pledged in the Annual Budget Drive. The Annual Budget Drive is the most critical component in maintaining FUSN’s financial health.
Annual Fellowship Dinner
A steering committee plans and oversees the Annual Fellowship Dinner with two major goals: to provide a positive fellowship experience for the volunteers and attendees and to kick off the Society’s Annual Budget Drive. The evening begins with a reception with live music and drinks and appetizers which are provided by volunteers. This is followed by an exquisite dinner (created by our own master chefs), served family style (by COA Candidates and Youth), with a live band and dancing to follow. Childcare is also provided by Youth.
Buildings and Grounds
Buildings & Grounds provides for the ongoing maintenance and repair of the Society’s facilities; handles long-term space rental negotiations and rental contracts (the Board handles final decisions and the Administrator handles day-to-day relations and short-term rentals); proposes an annual operating budget to the Finance committee to support maintenance and operations; works to accommodate the space needs of the Society by providing guidance and planning for such activities as religious education; gathers and communicates to the Board of Trustees information critical to creating a mast
Chancel
Chancel provides appropriate decoration for the chancel for all regular and special services of the Society.
Communications
Communications promotes participation in the life of the congregation by providing professional-level consulting on both internal and external communications in both print and electronic media with special attention to design, consistency, and production values. Content is provided by staff and committees. In the absence of a Public Relations committee, Communications will consult on publicity needs and media relations.
Computer and Administrative Services
The Computer and Administrative Services comittee provides support to the FUSN staff by selecting, installing, maintaining, and updating the Society's technical equipment. The committee consults with staff members to identify problem areas and solutions, and negotiates with the Board for capital purchases.
Denominational Affairs
Denominational Affairs acts as liaison to, and works with, the Massachusetts Bay District and the Unitarian Universalist Association and advises the congregation of events and issues generated by these organizations.
Ferry Beach Columbus Day Retreat
Every Columbus Day Weekend our FUSN community starts the season enjoying a three-day retreat at Ferry Beach, a Unitarian Universalist Summer Camp and Conference Center on the Southeastern coast of Maine. Ferry Beach is a collection of turn-of-the-century wood frame buildings that include several dormitory-style buildings and one central building that houses the kitchen, dining room, and a large living room.
Finance
Finance, in consultation with the committees, prepares the annual operating and capital improvement budgets for the Board and for approval of the Society at the Annual Meeting.
